"AGUA DE LUSO" WATER

It is in the Serra do Bussaco, among the quartz rocks, that the centenary Água Mineral Natural de Luso is born. Characterized by its original purity and its natural properties, this deep underground water flows in full harmony with nature.

Since the rain falls, the water is filtered slowly by the Serra – a filtration process takes an average of a thousand years and happens up to hundreds of meters deep. This process makes it possible to create noble water, with unique characteristics, which does not undergo any human contamination or chemical treatment.

But not all waters are the same. Did you know that there are three types of bottled water? What distinguishes them are their natural properties or the treatment they receive in the bottling plants. Depending on its origin, the waters can be natural mineral waters, spring waters and waters for human consumption.
In turn, Luso Natural Mineral Water is a product in the healthiest form of hydration that nature offers. Água de Luso is made up of mineral salts and trace elements essential for the body, which are an excellent natural complement to the daily diet and a great benefit for health.

But the concern for the consumer is not just direct: the idea of a “greener” future is also reflected in its commitment to sustainability and the sustainable management of this natural resource. The packaging is done at the collection site, at the Água de Luso Bottling unit, thus guaranteeing the commitment to preserve the composition and respect the natural balance of the water, from the moment it is captured until the moment it reaches the consumer. .
Still without putting quality aside, and in order to ensure that the consumer has water “tailor-made”, Luso has a wide variety of waters and packaging formats. From 100% recyclable plastic bottles, to returnable glass bottles – which can be used up to 40 times -, to seven-litre demijohns, to the latest 10-litre recyclable cardboard packaging, with an adapted tap. It should be noted that the eco-design of the bottles was designed to optimize their transport, thus contributing to a significant reduction in greenhouse gas emissions. The paper labels that make up the bottles are also certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), which indicates their origin in sustainable forests.

And for those who are not satisfied with the traditional, Luso's bet has also reached flavored waters. Lemon, red fruits and apple are some of the brand's options to reach those who want to keep natural water in their routine, but risk an aromatic and refreshing combination.
In 2019, 3150 photovoltaic panels were installed at the Bottling unit, which led to a significant reduction in carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions, and started the transition to renewable energy sources.

Protecting the Planet is everyone's role, which is why companies have an essential role to play when it comes to respecting the environment and the resources that nature gives us. With almost 170 years of history, Água de Luso has been committed to the balance and sustainability of this natural resource since the beginning.
