Mealhada is a Portuguese city in the district of Aveiro, located in the province of Beira Litoral, in the Centro region (Beiras Region) and sub-region (NUT III) of the Intermunicipal Community of Coimbra Region (CIM-RC), with around 4 500 inhabitants. It is one of the most significant urban centers in the Bairrada wine sub-region.
It is the seat of a municipality with an area of ​​110.66 km² and 20 428 inhabitants (2011), divided into 6 parishes ( Barcouço; Casal Comba;
Luso; Mealhada, Ventosa do Bairro e Antes; Pampilhosa; Vacariça). The municipality is limited to the north by Anadia, to the east by Mortágua and Penacova, to the south by Coimbra and to the west by Cantanhede.
The municipality of Mealhada has two villages (Luso and Pampilhosa) and one city (Mealhada).

Accessibilities
In terms of road infrastructure, the municipality is crossed by the A1 with access through the Mealhada node, by the IC 2 that crosses the municipality, by the EN 234 (between Mira and Mangualde) and by a municipal road network that extends to all the parishes.
It is also crossed by the railway lines from the North (between Lisbon and Porto), from Beira Alta (between Pampilhosa and Vilar Formoso) and the Figueira da Foz Branch (between Figueira da Foz and Pampilhosa), which cross at the Pampilhosa station, making -a on one of the most important railway nodes in Portugal.
With its unique geographical situation in the Centro Region, Mealhada is by motorway, 1 hour from Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport, in Porto, 2 hours from Portela Airport, in Lisbon, and is less than 1 hour from the ports of Aveiro. and Figueira da Foz, for which it has excellent access.

Tourism
With a very strong tourist aspect based on the Luso Thermal Spa, Mata Nacional do Buçaco, and Gastronomy, the municipality of Mealhada has several hotel units offering more than a thousand beds and about fifty restaurants specializing in roast suckling pig Bairrada (Leitão à Bairrada).
